SUMMARY:Kanekoa
DESCRIPTION:Kanekoa\n \n \n \n \n \n Friday\, May 2\, 2025Starts at 7:30pmRun time: 2 hours with an intermission\n \n BUY TICKETS\n \n \n \n \n \n About the Show\nMaui’s favorite jam band is BACK for another epic show on the ProArts stage! Maui’s Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winning band Kanekoa is quickly becoming a global phenomenon. Powered by electric ukuleles and exotic rhythms\, these ukulele masters ride the wave of Hawaiian roots with jam band energy\, creating a sound they call Hawaiian jam-rock. For the last 25 years audiences never fail to swoon over their soulful originals and crafty covers interpreted with pure originality. The Grateful Dead’s drummer Bill Kreutzmann goes so far as to call them\, “the Hawaiian Grateful Dead.” David Hidalgo of Los Lobos says\, “These guys scare me. They are that good.” They recently graced the cover of Ukulele Magazine and were referred to as “Hawaiian Trailblazers”. Once you hear Vince Esquire lead ukulele\, you’ll know why he was invited to play with the Allman Brothers Band.\n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Ticket Information\nPremium Seating:\n$60 Premium (large cushy front-row chairs with small tables)\nPreferred Seating:\n$45 Preferred (front row of any seating tier)\nRegular Seating:\n$40\nPartially-Obstructed View Seats:\n$35\nFor information on our Access for All initiative\, click HERE\n \n BUY TICKETS\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n [events-calendar-search placeholder="Search Events" show-events="5" disable-past-events="false" layout="medium" content-type="advance"]\n \n BACK TO UPCOMING

Naor\, a gifted guitarist and songwriter\, has been composing music since he was 12 and honed his craft in Israel before collaborating with Tempa. \nUncle George Kahumoku Jr.:\nThere’s a reason he’s been called Hawaii’s Renaissance man: George Kahumoku\, Jr. is a multiple Grammy Award-winning master slack key guitarist\, songwriter\, world-traveling performer\, teacher\, artist\, storyteller and writer\, farmer and entrepreneur. He hosts a different Hawaiian music artist each week: George Kahumoku Jr’s Slack Key Show: Masters of Hawaiian Music He tours the mainland every year with two of his guest artists. Tanama grew up singing and dancing to the seductive sounds of the Caribbean experienced at unforgettable family parties where the rhythm of her people enveloped her and brought everyone to life. This ignited her desire to perform. At age five Tanama sang her first solo at her Kindergarten graduation\, and she continued exploring her artistic and musical passions into her teens. In her early twenties Tanama realized that music was her heart and soul and should be her focus in life. Tanama gave up her secure job and her legal safety to embark on what would ultimately be an 8 year journey that took her from Mexico through Latin America\, to the Virgin islands\, then to Paris\, and most recently\, back to Hawaii. Along this magical journey\, she learned to play a variety of instruments\, developed a kinship with artists and artisans\, absorbed the folklore of differing cultures\, became fluent in 4 languages and matured musically. As a guitarist who accompanies herself\, a lead singer for a well-known musical group\, a songwriter and solo performer at parties\, events\, and festivals\, Tanama has a varied repertoire that ranges from soul to jazz\, hip hop\, spoken word and world music \,including the customized\, personal songs of love she writes songs for engagements and weddings. She has written the official song for the 501©3 organization\, What Makes You Feel Beautiful.Currently living on the garden isle of Maui\, but ready to travel the world again at a moment’s notice to perform at events or festivals\, Tanama has drawn on the musical culture that is in her DNA and on her immersive global experiences to create her debut album\, to be released soon.\nScott Buchholz\nScott Buchholz is a Kailua-Kona based singer-songwriter making warm\, folky tunes filled with a signature blend of wonder and introspection. Drawing inspiration from Folk Giants\, Jazz Crooners\, and Country Storytellers\, Scott’s songs deal with the memories\, longings\, and the different kinds of Love we all feel.\n \n BUY TICKETS\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n [events-calendar-search placeholder="Search Events" show-events="5" disable-past-events="false" layout="medium" content-type="advance"]\n \n BACK TO UPCOMING

This might make you blush just a little.\nAbout Tempa & Naor\nTempa & Naor are a singer-songwriter couple that has been composing music together for 13 years. Based on Maui\, Hawaii\, they have been creating a unique blend of soul and folk music that speaks to the heart. Their music draws from personal experiences\, weaving powerful and honest lyrics that explore themes of transformation\, love\, loss\, and release. They believe music is medicine and they live to share it with the world.\nPhoto Credit: Shooting Stars Photography\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Ticket Information\nPremium/Preferred Seating:\n$35 Best-view seating in either the front row OR the front row of any elevated section\nRegular Seating:\n$30\nPartially-Obstructed View Seats:\n$25\nFor information on our Access for All initiative\, click HERE\n \n BUY TICKETS\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n [events-calendar-search placeholder="Search Events" show-events="5" disable-past-events="false" layout="medium" content-type="advance"]\n \n BACK TO UPCOMING

SUMMARY:Hawaiian Arts and Culture Series: Stephen Henderson
DESCRIPTION:ProArts Playhouse Hawaiian Arts and Culture Series: Stephen Henderson\n \n \n \n \n \n Saturday\, March 29\, 2025Starts at 2:00pm\n \n RESERVE SEATS\n \n \n \n \n \n About the Show\nFREE ADMISSIONSeating is assigned\, so make your reservation now!\nAbout the ShowCome enjoy a beautiful afternoon of music and learn what the songs mean to the artist through his songs\, as well as a Talk Story session with our host.\nStephen Henderson is a native Hawaiian and tongan island soul singer/songwriter and producer whose roots stem from Hana\, Maui. Stephen writes through personal experiences close to home and to the heart. His songs are markers of his life – and are about the experiences and relationships most core to his existence – family\, love\, loss\, death and everything in between. His intricate guitar work\, genre-bending antics\, soul-soaked vocal tone and insane range embody softness and warmth and breathe rich nuance and atmosphere into everything he touches.\nAs a recording artist and songwriter\, Stephen released his debut album “Outside Looking In” in 2016. Since then he’s released numerous singles which air on pacific island radio and was nominated for Na Hoku Hanohano awards for back to back years in 2023 and 2024. Stephen released his sophomore album “Hey Child” to critical acclaim under the “Island Soul” genre – a heartfelt mixture of pocket soul\, bluegrass\, indie-folk\, RnB\, and island contemporary. The flagship song “Hey Child” was a winner in the most recent 2024 Hawaii Songwriters Festival song contest. He was also the winner of the 2024 Mana Maoli Song Contest with his entry “Babylon” in collaboration with his sister Pohai.\nAs a producer Stephen produced Leilani Wolfgramm’s “Live-wire” acoustic album in 2020. He has also produced multiple Island Soul singles with a growing list of up-and-coming artists including Drew Daniels\, Pohai\, Keoni Thompson and cubworld. Outside of the Island Soul genre – Stephen co-produces melancholy electronica music with his collaborators Jenny Yim and Graham Barton under the moniker “Serpens” and upbeat ethereal hyper-pop bangers with his collaborator Braden Anderson under the moniker “AZHES”.\nStephen was awarded the Carolyn Applebaum Prize for Music for excellence in service to the musical community and entrepreneurial endeavors from the Stanford University Department of Music in 2012 where he graduated with a BA and MA in Music\, Science and Technology. He is an alumni of the Creative Media Lab Hawaii and his music can be licensed through Marmoset Music.\nDuring the day Stephen is a Director of Software Product at Cricut\, Inc. where he helps people live more creative lives. He also runs a small boutique media and event company\, Ohana Productions\, where he produces and runs an intimate digital venue called “Ohana Sessions”. He resides in Hilo\, HI where he and his beautiful wife raise their two young children in the Hawaiian Immersion school system.\nLink to Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/stephenhmusicLink to Music on Apple: https://music.apple.com/us/artist/stephen-henderson/57476715Link to Music on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/50mwJSDc7Qbm7qyK8Qu5wO?si=3fj6rSskQkW9H3AcnTCyyQLink to Website: www.stephenhendersonmusic.comLink to Music for Licensing: https://www.marmosetmusic.com/artists/stephen-henderson\nThe ProArts Hawaiian Arts and Culture Series is brought to you via our Access for All Programs\, thanks to funding from Arnold Jacobson & Jennifer Meyers and the County of  Maui’s Office of  Economic Development.\nFor information on our Access for All initiative\, please visit our website.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Ticket Information\nFREE ADMISSION\nSeating is assigned\, so make your reservation now!\n \n RESERVE SEATS\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n [events-calendar-search placeholder="Search Events" show-events="5" disable-past-events="false" layout="medium" content-type="advance"]\n \n BACK TO UPCOMING
